Looking back at the changes in the HR industry, the development of recruiting efforts played a large role in finding and hiring the best employees. Companies were able to use not only recruiting and hiring software, but their creativity and out-of-the-box approaches to leverage themselves above competitors and catch the attention of the competitive talent pool. Here are three of the trends I saw that are still having a major impact on employer recruiting:
- Increase in remote teams
Employers saw and are still finding more employees are requesting remote work flexibility or increase work from home perks. With the increase in technology for all aspects of a business, such as operations now being done over the cloud, working out of the office is incredibly convenient for employees and even expected. Studies found 66 percent of companies now allow remote work and flexible work options have increased 91 percent over the last decade. This has made a major impact on the work environment for employees and even influenced company culture.
- Emphasis on employer branding
Employer branding became a major focus for companies to show candidates the value of their organization and why potential employees should work there. Younger generations have started taking over the workforce and their focus is on what a company can do for them rather than what they can do for the company. What an organization can offer is what makes or breaks their standing with potential employees. Employers started branding their culture to stand out amongst the competitive talent market and showing the value and perks of working for them. This is something that will continue throughout the new decade.
- Text message recruiting
Texting recruiting grew in popularity and is becoming more integrated with hiring processes around the globe. With our fast-paced and convenience-focused culture, the younger generations want instant gratification and results. So companies looked towards finding where candidates spend their time (their phones) and made the hiring process easier and faster with text. Companies have even gone as far as reaching out on social platforms other than LinkedIn in order to reach candidates where they are.
With the continued development of technologies, indicators of convenience, communication, and culture will be the make or break in companies’ hiring efforts. The organizations that are open to recruiting and hiring software for their advantage will put them ahead of their competitors and stand out to top talent.
